Blue Ribbons, a poem

The Space Shuttle landed
on Earth again after
another successful mission

and I had trouble just
getting out of bed.

A pat on the back,

a PhD,

a cure for cancer,

a gold crown…

“Como estas?” she asked.
“Einstein” I replied;
she just looked at me
like I was crazy.

Then I stood up,
reached for the sky,
touched my toes,
and got ready
for work…

and, once again, opened
the door to leave.

“Adios, senor.”
“I love you too.”
